K9HQ FAQ

Are all Doggy Daycares the same?

Absolutely not. The Doggy Daycare industry is not regulated in North America, meaning that there are no mandatory guidelines for supervision, group size, staff education, or management methods.
K9HQ strives to abide by the highest recommended standards with low staff to dog ratios, separate play groups based on size & temperament and continuing education of updated scientific information. Safety and the well-being of all our dogs are our top priorities. We do not condone the use of pain, fear, intimidation, or physical force. Daycare is meant to be a fun, safe place for dogs, which is why we prefer reward-based management methods.
Be sure to do your homework and ask lots of questions when researching doggy daycares to ensure you find the best fit for both you and your furry child.

Why should my dog go to Daycare?

A majority of dogs lack adequate exercise & mental stimulation. This can lead to obesity and other health problems as well as a long list of behavioural problems. The average dog spends 8-10 hours a day at home alone, waiting for someone to come home and interact with them. This lack of adequate stimulation causes dogs to get bored and frustrated. They have no positive outlet for their normal canine energy.
Doggy daycare can be the answer for many dogs. Click Here for more information.

Who takes care of my dog?

K9HQ has strict hiring policies. The staff who cares for your dogs are called K9 Care Givers. All K9 Care Givers are adults that truly have a passion for dogs.  They prove their passion with a history of volunteer work with dogs or previous industry experience such as working in a veterinarian office.  In addition, they must show that they have thirst for knowledge about canines.  This is shown by the books they have read and courses taken.  It is not enough to have had a dog of your own to get a job at K9HQ.  We are only interested in people with long term goals of working with dogs.  All our staff is certified in Pet First Aid. Check our About Us page for information on our K9 Care Givers.

How will I know how my dog is doing there?

We thrive on transparency here at K9HQ. Our K9Cam is a unique feature that allows you to watch your dog at daycare while you are away.
We will update you upon pick-up time exactly how your dog’s day went, though we encourage you to call and check in on your dog’s first day if you are worried (or you just miss your dog!). Daycare is meant to be a fun, stimulating experience, and we do everything we can to ensure a positive environment. If we feel that our daycare setting is not right for your dog, we will be sure to let you know.

What is the cost of daycare?

Our prices come in monthly packages, and range between $25.00 – 32.50 per day. In your E&I session we will discuss these packages in detail with you and determine which one works best for your daycare needs.
We offer discount prices for multiple dogs of the same household.

My dog is tiny, will she be safe?

Safety is our number one priority, which is why we separate our big and small dogs into separate play groups. This separation allows shyer dogs to open up to other dogs their own size and avoid feeling overwhelmed or shut down, as well as minimizing the risk of accidents from happening. We encourage a safe and positive atmosphere to ensure all dogs can play freely and comfortably.
